Study Task 6 - Layout Designs

To begin this task I took inspiration from the existing front covers of Ray Gun Magazine which were designed by David Carson. From this I went onto do some quick sketches of magazine front cover layout for the Vogue magazine redesign I am doing.

Here are my designs, as you can see the title 'vogue' is rarely seen as a whole, it is sometimes chopped up or enlarged. As for the blocks of text, these run off of the sides of the pages and the images are drawn to look collaged/ cut up and placed randomly. I think getting the layout of the front cover is the most important thing as this is what the target audience will see first and it is what attracts customers. From this I will design inside pages and possibly look into doing some online/ app design for it too. Initial designs will be done by collage/ mix media, however to follow the style of post modernism the final designs will be digitalised as this was a new tool that designers had during the postmodernism era therefore I need to use it to my advantage.
