David Carson, the main influence behind how my rebrand for vogue will look. I want to take elements of the front covers that he design for ray gun and mix it with the aesthetic of vogue to create a new image. I really like the way that David Carson has developed his own style taking influence from the post modern era and I want to recreate that in my own way, I am not trying to be the next David Carson but I would like to acknowledge his style and appreciation for it by recreating it.
History:
Carson started experimenting in graphic design in the early 80s, he originally graduated university with a degree in sociology with his main hobby being surfing. From this he went on to design for many surfing/ snowboarding/ skateboarding brands. However what he is most well known for is his experimentation work for Ray Gun magazine. The magazine was based around music artists, pop culture, lifestyle, advertising and celebrity icons and Carson was influenced by this.
